Format of Printed Registers in Quickbooks for Mac

Is there any way to (re)format the printed bank account registers in Quickbooks for Mac to include both the "Payment" and "Deposit" columns on the print out? (Rather than a single "Amount" column) I don't understand why the Mac product is so different than the windows product in the regard. Or is there any way to export pre-2022 Quickbooks for Mac registers to an excel format that can be adjusted. Thanks

I can share a way on how get the data you need, GBdds.

The Chart of Accounts only shows the balance of each registers in the Amount column. Currently, we're unable to add separate columns for payments and columns when printing the registers. If you need to to customize the data, you'll want to export the register. By doing this, your register data exports to Excel as a Custom Transaction Detail Report. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu, then select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Open the register you'd like to export.
  3. Click the Export icon, then choose a date range and click OK.
  4. Open the exported file, then customize the data.

I'm also adding this article to learn how to organize your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac: Add, edit, or delete accounts.

Let me know in the comment section if you need more help in printing your other reports or transactions. Have a good one.

I appreciate the response. But I believe this is an option for Quickbooks for Mac 2022 only. I am using Quickbooks for Mac 2020, and I don't think exporting a register to excel is an option in the earlier versions.

Thank you for your prompt reply, @GBdds.

I’ll chime in on this thread to add further details and guidelines about the option mentioned above.

My colleague, KlentB is right about exporting the register into an excel file. Nonetheless, this option is also available in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac 2020. You’ll just have to follow the steps provided by my peer above to do so.

Also, I’m adding this article for detailed reference when exporting a report in QBDT for Mac: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop

Furthermore, if you didn’t see the option outlined in the article nor an Export button, I recommend performing a Verify and Rebuild data utilities. Having said that, we can verify and correct most typical data errors in your company file. Please make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is up to date as well.

Here’s how you can verify your company data:

  1. From the File menu, click Utilities.
  2. Select Verify Data, then click OK to close all windows.

Once settled, follow the steps outlined in this article to rebuild your company file and fix all common errors: Verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

Moreover, you can check out this user guide for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2020 to further check the details about exporting reports in QBDT for Mac 2020. If you want to go directly into the details, please press the Ctrl + F on your keyboard and type in the Export a report to Microsoft Excel or Numbers.
