Good morning, does anyone know a way to do a bulk inventory cost update?

@wgrieves

Unfortunately, there is no batch action to update the Cost field (or Sales Price field) at this time.

You will need to upload the CSV file to the Products and Services list page.

(Gear icon > Lists > Products and Services > Select Import from the drop-down arrow next to New button).

"Can I download my existing inventory csv, make changes and then upload the updated file to overwrite"

That's how you normally do it. You can click Export to Excel link from the same Products and Services page.

"will that mess up all my inventory, cost of goods, ect?"

Always a risk, you need to be extra careful, with some expertise would be helpful. Suggest importing a few items first and see how it works.

Good morning, does anyone know a way to do a bulk inventory cost update?

I tried this solution in QuickBooks online and it wants me to change the name of all of my products.  I want to update all products by 10%.  I downloaded the existing data into a csv file using the download link.  I updated all items to the new price. Saved the file and tried to import.  QBO tried to do the import and responded that 0 of my items were imported and that If I really wanted to do it, I had to change the fields highlighted.  The name field was what was highlighted.

Thanks for joining this discussion, Hugh.

Allow me to join the thread and share some insights on how to import the items successfully. If the name field is highlighted red and won't let you go through, make sure it is formatted correctly.

For a Product/Service Name, there is a 100 character limit without any special characters. See the approved characters list for more info.

Hii All. The solution is simple. ( For which I spend hours.) There should be a check mark at the bottom of the list which need to be checked off to allow overwriting already existing product. Thanka
