Has anyone had a problem with the "Pay Invoice" button that mysteriously appeared on invoices? I have spent 4+ hours online with QB and they can't get it to go away.

We do not have QB set up to accept payments.  Payment Options are not even activated on QB and yet the "Pay Invoice" button continues to pop up on a handful of clients. Very frustrating as QB could not even get it to stop populating.

I understand how important it is to invoice your customers without the Pay Invoice button. Rest assured, I'm here to assist you in getting rid of the Pay Invoice link at the bottom of your invoices in QuickBooks Online.

 

The Pay Invoice button/link shows at the bottom of your invoice when you're using a customized or Other template, even if you don't have online payments set up. To fix this, you'll need to change your template to a Modern template.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. On the left menu, click + New and select Invoice.
  2. Hit the Manage button and go to the Design section.
  3. Change the template to Modern.
  4. Fill out the invoice fields and preview the invoice by clicking Print and Download.

 

Additionally, you can also consider customizing your invoice template with the new layout in QuickBooks Online.

Dealt with the same thing this morning. Every time I go to invoice I run into a whole new grab bag of QB problems. Now this community web site is acting flakey. It's like their whole platform is crumbling apart.

 

My latest weird bug:

I enter the rate (price) for the line item. On some lines with the same price it will show $750.00 on others it will only show $750 even if it enter $750.00. Not a big deal because on the actual invoice it shows them both as $750.00. Just bizarre.

BUT, on the actual invoice it drops the quantity for the line item so on some line items it may say 1 or 2 on others it will just be blank even though I entered a quantity. Just sloppy and unreliable. Makes your invoices look unprofessional.

I've got a couple of troubleshooting steps to help you fix the issue of your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), TeleToast.

 

As mentioned by my colleague, the Pay Invoice will show if you're using a customized instead of a Modern template. Then, ensure that you turn off all accepted payment methods for invoices so the pay invoices will not shown.

 

With regards to the quantity for a line item, I'd recommend accessing your account using a private window. This way, we can determine whether this is a browser cache-related issue. This mode helps us verify the issue since this doesn't save any files. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

 

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

 

If it works just fine, I recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser so you can access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You may also use a different supported one.
