Hi there, I've mistakenly signed up for QuickBooks self-employed US, when I wanted to sign up for the UK one. How do I delete it so I can use my email to sign up for UK?

I've also tried to change my email address on the US account, but it still associated my other email with the account, which makes me unable to sign up with it.

Hello, @carlota.

 

When you sign up with QuickBooks Self-Employed US version, the email address you enter automatically becomes your username. Let's log in to your account and change its username. From here, you can now sign up for a new QuickBooks Self-Employed UK account using your email address.

 

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear Icon.
  2. Choose Intuit Account.
  3. From the Sign In & Security tab, locate the User Id section.
  4. Click the Edit link.
  5. Enter your new desired user ID and your existing Password.
  6. Click Save.

Once completed, you can now sign up for a new QuickBooks Self-Employed UK account. Just make sure to cancel the US account once everything is set up. This is to avoid being charged for duplicate accounts.  You can check this article for more detailed steps: Cancel your QuickBooks Self-Employed subscription.

Hey, 

Thank you for the answer, that worked! I was able to create an account on the UK site now and pay for a subscription.
Another problem now though - every time I try to sign it comes up with a message saying "unknown error has occurred". I've cleared the cookies on my browser, tried another one, but it still happens. Do you know why this might be?

I appreciated the steps you've taken to resolve the error message prompted every time you log in to your account, @carlota.

 

Since you're still unable to log in successfully, I'd recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. He/she can help you further investigate the root cause of this unexpected behavior. To do so:

  1. Go to Assistant.
  2. Enter Talk to a human in the Search address.
  3. Click Message an agent.
