Thanks for sharing this in the Community, Belinda. To add a new subdivision within a budget in QuickBooks Online (QBO), you first need to activate Classes or Locations based on how you'd like to track your financial data.
Here’s how to enable these features:
- Go to the Gear icon in the top-right corner.
- Choose Account and Settings.
- Navigate to the Advanced tab.
- In the Categories section:
- Turn on Track classes (or Track locations, if that suits your needs better).
- Decide whether to assign classes or locations to entire transactions or individual lines.
- Click Save and close.

Once Classes or Locations are set up, you can proceed to create a new budget, including your subdivisions. Follow these steps:
- Hit the Create budget.
- For the Budget type, pick Profit and Loss.
- Choose the Subdivided budget format.
- Specify the fiscal year for your budget.
- Select your subdivision criteria, such as Class or Location.
- Click Next to continue.
