Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, bancc1020.

I'll ensure you can change my Intuit business tax account from Sole Proprietor to LLC S-Corp by following the steps below.

To start with, I recommend going to the Company section and you'll be able to modify the type of tax form your company uses.

Here's how:

  1. Choose Account and settings by going to the Gear icon.
  2. Go to the Company tab.
  3. Click the pencil icon under the Company type section.
  4. From the Tax form drop-down, choose from Sole Proprietor to LLC S-Corp or Limited liability.
  5. Click Save and Done.

In case you need steps and guidelines on how you can initially set up your company files smoothly, you can read this article: Set up advanced account settings in QuickBooks Online.

How do I change my Intuit business tax account from Sole Proprietor to LLC S-Corp

If you wish to change your Intuit business tax account from Sole Proprietor to LLC S-Corp, you'll need to first confirm whether your LLC meets S-Corp eligibility requirements. Then, you'll file Form 2553 with the IRS to elect S-Corp status..

BTW, S-Corp status will give you some tax benefits...

I appreciate your efforts in following the instructions that my previous colleague provided, Hokie.

Your commitment to managing your account is truly admirable. Allow me to share some additional workarounds on how to manage your business tax information in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before we proceed, could you take a screenshot of the options you're seeing on your Account and settings profile? It'll help us get a clear picture and figure out the best solution for you.

Once you provide a screenshot, we can start with some troubleshooting steps. Opening a private window will help determine if browser cache issues are affecting your ability to make changes in your account in QBO.

Here's how:

To begin, sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account in an incognito window. It will prevent the browser history from being saved.

Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Additionally, if operating in a private browsing session resolves the issue, it's advisable to clear your browser's cache to facilitate a reboot. This procedure is also applicable in other supported and up-to-date browsers. Clearing the cache helps in eliminating stored cache and cookies that is causing operational issues.

However, if we're trying to change your business type from a Sole Proprietorship to a specific tax form which is the LLC with S-corp (Form 2553) election, you will have to obtain a new Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS. This is because the entity structure and tax classification of your business have changed, necessitating a new EIN for tax and identification purposes.

Furthermore, you can read this article to have a detailed information with regard to your tax business information, along with the steps in QBO: Change your business name, contact info, or EIN in QuickBooks Online
