How do I enable the 'Categories' feature for Products and Services?

Hello, charlie-opixsys-.

Welcome to the community! There are a couple of things you can check so you can enable to categorize the Products and Services

Here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon at the top and pick Account and Settings under Your Company column.
2. Select the Sales menu at the left, then click the Pencil icon on the Products and Services section.

3. Check the box beside Show Product/Service column on sales forms, then Save and Done.

I've also attached an article you can use to classify your products and services: Group your products and services into different categories.

If there's anything else I can do for you, let me know by commenting below. I'd be around to answer. Have a nice day.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

The Show Product/Service column on sales forms is already set to true. Also in the Products and Services list, under more, there is no option to Manage categories.  It may be important to mention that I have just migrated to QBO from Desktop.

How do I enable the 'Categories' feature for Products and Services?

Good morning, @charlie-opixsys-

Thanks for reaching back out to the Community and adding that you've just recently migrated from QuickBooks Online (QBO)to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This information is very helpful.

To clarify, are you having this issue in your QBO or QBDT account? Depending on which account you're using, will help me determine which solution is best for your business. For QBDT, there isn't a "Manage Category" feature. Only QBO customers will have this option. If you're in your QBO account, then I recommend reviewing this guide and the steps that my colleague provided.

If the problem is persisting within your QBO account, then I suggest trying the following troubleshooting steps. Let's try to access your company account through a private browser or incognito window. This will help remove any glitches that are occurring within the system. Here's how depending on your browser session:

Note: Log out of your account and sign back in when going to the new session.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl +Shift
  • Internet Explorer/Firefox: Ctrl Shift
  • Safari: Command Shift N

That's all there is to it. If this works, go back to your regular session and clear your browser's history. If not, I highly suggest contacting our Customer Support Team for further review.

I'm always around if you have any other questions about QuickBooks. Just leave a reply below, and I'll get back to you.
