How do I get a breakdown of expense categories form last month

You can generate a report to get a breakdown of expense categories from last month, vallie.

You can pull up and customized the Transaction Detail by Account report in QuickBooks Online to all the information you need. Here's how:

  1. Click Reports in the left panel and search for Transaction Detail by Account.
  2. On the report screen, click Customize.
  3. Go to the Filter section.
  4. Select the Distribution Account and choose All Expenses Accounts.
  5. Hit Run report.
  6. Filter the Dates and hit Run report again.
  7. You'll see a breakdown of the expense categories from there.

You can also memorize it to save its current customization settings. It serves as your record and helps you quickly access it for future use.

Don't hesitate to get back to me if you have any other concerns. I'm always here to lend a helping hand.

How do I get a breakdown of expense categories form last month

Hello,

I have been trying to create this report but When I type Transaction Detail by Account, that report is not found. Can you help?

How do I get a breakdown of expense categories form last month

Let me help you get around your concern, Userinfo4.

If you have the QuickBooks Simple Start version, the Transaction Detail by Account report is unavailable. You'll want to run a quick report for each expense account instead. Let me show you:

  1. Click Accounting.
  2. Go to the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. Select an expense account, then click Run report.

You can change the Report period to show the last month's data. Also, you can customize the report to help you focus on the details that matter to you.

However, if you're using the Essential, Plus, or Advanced version and unable to see the report, you may be experiencing some browser hiccups. We'll perform the basic troubleshooting to fix this. Let's start with logging into your account through a private browser. It's the best place to isolate web issues. These are the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you can view the report successfully using the private browsing session, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache to refresh the program.

You can also use a different browser to narrow down the issue.

Feel free to click the Reply button below if you need more help. We'll get back to this thread as soon as we can. Take care!
