Hello there, @contact-denimman.
At this time, the ability to add size and color to a product detail for the inventory is unavailable. QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have a Unit of Measure feature that helps to manage inventory items with different units.
If you have already an inventory item, you can edit it and add the size and color on the description section. Let me guide you how:
For detailed instructions about editing items, please click this article: Set up categories in Products and Services.
Also, you can run inventory-related reports in QBO. Simply go to the Reports menu, and then refer to the Sales and customers section.
Please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns by leaving a comment in this thread. I'm always here to assist. Have a great rest of the day!
Consider having an inventory management app to do so. Intuit has acquired an app as one of their product family recently.

When will QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop incorporate the feature allowing users to add different sizes to a particular item?
Given the expanding online business landscape, especially in apparel, this feature is increasingly essential.
Example:

UPC | Style | Color | Description | Scale | Lot # | TOTAL QTY | '4/27' | '6/28' | '8/29' | '10/30' | '12/31' | '14/32' | '16/33' | 'ASST' | ||

Currently, the feature to add different sizes to your item in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is unavailable. I understand how this would be helpful to your end.
As a workaround, you can look for a third-party app to perform this task.
In the meantime, you can request to have this feature by submitting direct feedback to our Product Development Team. They might add this to our future product updates.
To be in the loop on QuickBooks product updates, you can visit this page: QuickBooks Blog.
If you have additional questions about managing your items in QBDT, don't hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Keep safe.
You need a 3rd party inventory management app with the matrix inventory feature to integrate with QB Desktop.
