How do you remove a payment method? We no longer use PayPal and would like to delete it from the options when I'm recording a sales receipt?

You can remove payment methods from your Payment methods list screen.

Here's how:
 

1. Use the Gear icon, then go to All lists, then Payment methods.
2. Find a payment method you'd like to remove.
3. Click its Drop-Down Arrow (▼) icon in your Action column.
4. Choose Make inactive.
5. Select Yes.

If you don't see PayPal listed as a payment method on the Payment method list, or you did and you made it inactive, but it's still showing as a payment method when recording sales receipts, I'd also recommend checking your Sales settings:
 

1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Account and settings.
2. Access your Sales tab.
3. Look for any mention of PayPal being connected to QuickBooks. If you find any settings to control the connection, you can disconnect your account.

I have attempted to remove several payment types, however, I am getting an error message telling me that it is used on a client.  Well, yes it was.  It was used as a 1 time payment method via that persons credit card.  I need to REMOVE this payment method ASAP.  

Please advise if there is a work around for this, regardless if it is attached to a client or not.

Deleting a payment method linked to a client isn't possible in QuickBooks Online. As a workaround, I recommend manually changing the payment method linked to the specific client to remove it.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Gear icon and then select All lists.
2. Choose Payment Methods.
3. Please select the method you want to delete, then click Run report to determine the entries linked to it.
4. Manually open the transactions and edit the Payment method.

Once done, you can delete the payment method.
