I'll share with you the two options on how you can transfer your client's fixed asset data from the previous desktop version to the new one, @josephwbrowne.
If you upgraded from QuickBooks 2019 to 2020, you can perform the steps below:
- Open your client's company file, then create its backup.
- Select Manage Fixed Assets from the Accountant menu.
- Choose Transfer a prior year Fixed Asset Manager client file.
- Click Next.
- Select the client file you want to transfer on the Transfer Client - Select Client window.
- Choose the correct calculation and then click Next.
- Select Asset Synchronization and then click Next.
- Ensure the Transfer Summary info is correct.
- To start the transfer, click Finish.
On the other hand, here's an outline of steps to perform if you skipped a QuickBooks version when you upgraded to 2020:
- Make sure your client's fixed asset files aren't compressed.
- Locate your client's fixed asset folder.
- Move the folder to your new QuickBooks’ Clients folder.
- Open Fixed Asset Manager (FAM).
