How do you transfer the fixed asset data from a previous version of Fixed Asset Manager to a current version of Fixed Asset Manager and QuickBooksAccountant Desktop 2020?

I'll share with you the two options on how you can transfer your client's fixed asset data from the previous desktop version to the new one, @josephwbrowne

If you upgraded from QuickBooks 2019 to 2020, you can perform the steps below:

  1. Open your client's company file, then create its backup.
  2. Select Manage Fixed Assets from the Accountant menu.
  3. Choose Transfer a prior year Fixed Asset Manager client file.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Select the client file you want to transfer on the Transfer Client - Select Client window.
  6. Choose the correct calculation and then click Next.
  7. Select Asset Synchronization and then click Next.
  8. Ensure the Transfer Summary info is correct.
  9. To start the transfer, click Finish.

On the other hand, here's an outline of steps to perform if you skipped a QuickBooks version when you upgraded to 2020:

  1. Make sure your client's fixed asset files aren't compressed.
  2. Locate your client's fixed asset folder.
  3. Move the folder to your new QuickBooks’ Clients folder.
  4. Open Fixed Asset Manager (FAM).

For detailed steps, see the If you skipped a version of QuickBooks when you upgraded section through this article: Move Fixed Asset Data To New QuickBooks Version

You can check out this website: Manage Fixed Assets. This link provides you the terminologies, depreciation methods, and predefined reports in FAM. This helps you effectively manage your client's asset information.

I'm just a post away if you have other concerns. Have a great day, @josephwbrowne
