How to Cancel invoice

I'd like to impart details about what date QuickBooks uses when voiding an invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Zeldy.

Once you void an invoice transaction in the QBO program, it will be automatically based on your invoice creation date. Currently, there's no available option to choose a specific date when voiding them.

Moreover, please note that QuickBooks will keep the payment and use it to offset the next taxable period. That means when voiding old transactions, the system will automatically apply any available credits to the open Sales Tax filing period, and it doesn’t affect the prior paid sales taxes.

Additionally, you may check out this article that'll give you a glance at the status of your sales transactions in the program: View sales transactions.

Please reach out again if you have any other questions about voiding transactions in QBO. Just add your reply below, and I'll surely get back to help you further.

How to Cancel invoice

I'm grateful for your prompt reply. Allow me to clarify things so you can get things back on track, Zeldy.

Yes, you're correct. If you void an invoice it will be based on the creation date. Like if you create the invoice on 31/12/2023 the voided date will be the same.

Although it's possible to alter the date, it's not recommended if the tax has already been filed, as this will affect your financial reports for the previous fiscal year.

Also, I'd recommend opening this article if you need to adjust your sales tax. It shows how to set up an account, add, and delete a sales tax adjustment: Create or delete a sales tax adjustment in QuickBooks Online
