How to close the month

Welcome to the Community. I'd be glad to lend a hand with your concern about closing the month in QuickBooks.

In the Online version,  you have the option to close your books to prevent unwanted changes. If you're trying to lock your books so no one can edit your accounting data before the closing date, the option is available in your settings.

Here's how:

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner.
2. Select Account and settings below Your Company.
3. Go to Advanced.
4. Enable Close the books under Accounting. 
5. Hit Save, then press Done. 

If you're trying to perform the month-end close process, you can reconcile the bank account. The point of the reconciliation is to confirm the bank balance with your information from the bank statement. For the detailed instructions, check out this link: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
