Hi dbeesonjmdb-outl,

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community! Let's check to see why your file is not recognized as PDF by QBO.

We can double-check the file format by right-clicking on it and choosing Properties. Then check the file extension if it's really PDF. If not, please convert it to any of these supported formats: PDF, JPEG, JPG, GIF, and PNG. If it is, we can do the browser troubleshooting steps to check if this behavior is caused by random browser issues.

We can start by signing in to your QBO company using a private window. This step will disable the extensions and stops the cache from saving your search history.

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N.
  • MS Edge and Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P.

If private browsing lets you upload your file, you can clear your browser's cache. If not, please use a different browser to see if this only happens to the one you are using.

I'm also adding this article for your additional reference: Upload your receipts and bills to QuickBooks Online.

Let me know how the steps work for you or if you have more questions about uploading receipts. Take care and enjoy your weekend.

Thank you for performing the troubleshooting procedures, tp1026.

Since the troubleshooting steps above didn't work on your end, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Support Team. They have more tools, like screen-sharing, to help you troubleshoot the issue further.

Here's how:

  1. On your QBO account, click on Help (?).
  2. Select the Search tab, then click on Contact Us.
  3. Enter the concern, then select Continue.
  4. Choose either Start a chat or Get a Callback

Moreover, please see this article for more details on the various file types that you can attach to any transaction in QuickBooks, as well as factors to keep in mind while emailing them: Attachments in QuickBooks Online

Additionally, you can also look through the supported characters for your lists, check out this article: Acceptable characters in QuickBooks Online.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you have other QuickBooks concerns or additional questions about PDF attachment. I'd be delighted to assist further. Have a good one.
