Thank you for reaching out to the Community, @021273. I can assist you with programming QuickBooks to apply the correct billing rate to each project.
QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced allows you to track the time spent by employees and contractors on each project, calculate project profitability, and pay your employees with QuickBooks payroll. However, it's important to note that you'll need to manually update the billing rate every time an employee works on a different project with a different rate.
While you can add additional pay types to the employee profile, it won't be reflected in the project. The best option is to adjust the rate in Projects every time your employee works on different projects with different rates to ensure accurate billing.
To set up your worker's hourly cost, here's how:
- Go to Projects.
- Select Employee hourly rate. This will open the hourly cost rate window.
- Find the employee and select Add. Or, select the pencil icon to edit an employee's rate.
- Select the calculator icon to open the hourly cost rate calculator.
- Add your employee's hourly wage and employer taxes. Please note that if your employee is hourly, QuickBooks will fill in their hourly wage and employer taxes for you. If your employee is salaried, enter an hourly rate by dividing their annual wage (including employer taxes) by the number of weeks in a year. Then divide by the average hours worked per week.
- Enter any additional employer taxes, workers' comp, or overhead for even more accurate hourly costs.
- Select Add to close the calculator.
- Select Save to save the hourly cost rate for the employee.
- Repeat the above steps for each employee.
