I'll be sharing details on how 1099 works in QuickBooks Self-Employed. Let me also provide information about filing a 1099 on the said form.
In QuickBooks Self-Employed, you can create a free limited account, which allows you to view and download your 1099. Filing a 1099 contractor/vendor to the program is unavailable.
Users using QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Contractor Payments, or QuickBooks Desktop can only create 1099s for the most recent late filing with the IRS. You can still e-file the late 1099 form. The e-filing system will allow you to do so until April 30th (from February 2 until April 30th). However, any forms that need to be filed after May 1st will have to be submitted manually.
To file it, you'll simply want to go to the Vendors page and then click the Prepare 1099s button. Ensure to select only the vendor with the late 1099 form. Here's how:
While you can still e-file the form, this will still be considered late by the IRS. I would recommend contacting them so they can assess the fees.

It is easier and cheaper to use a different service.
Tax1099 and Track1099 are two that are frequently recommended.
