I updated a message on the recurring invoice template. However, all of the invoices didn't update with the new message. Why not?

Out of 150 invoices, 20 didn't update.

Hello there, @wwwhetstine.

 

Let me share some information to make sure you're able to successfully update your recurring invoice template.

 

Just to clarify, are you using one recurring invoice template for 150 customers? If so, you'd want to make sure to select Update for all options.

 

If it's still not updating for all customers, we can try to do so one more time using a private or incognito browser. This way we can isolate this unexpected behavior for a possible browser-related. You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome, press CTRL  Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press CTRL  Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

You can follow these steps to edit your recurring invoice template:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Choose Recurring Template.
  3. Locate the invoice template you want to update.
  4. From the Action column, click Edit.
  5. Make the necessary changes to the template.
  6. Select the Save Template button.

Once completed and it works successfully, you'd want to clear the cache of your regular web browser. Also, you can use other supported browsers. Lastly, you can run the Browser Health Checkup Tool to check any issues with your browser’s health and its compatibility with QuickBooks Online.

 

On the other hand, if you're using 150 separate recurring invoice templates, you'd want to make sure to update each one of them. You can read through this article for more detailed steps: Edit a recurring template.
