I want to customize the "customize icon bar" with an item (bank account) not listed in the list. What should I do?

I'm here to provide clarification by customizing your Customer Icon Bar with a bank account.

You can do tasks easier and faster when you customize your QuickBooks Icon Bar. By clicking the Customize Shortcuts option, you can choose those shortcuts as well as many others.

Here's how to customize your Icon bar:

1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop company.
2. Right-click anywhere on My Shortcuts in the left menu, then choose Customize Shortcuts.
3. Sort through the Icon Bar Content until you find Bank Feeds.
4. Once you've clicked on Bank Feeds, go to Add and select Bank Feeds, then OK.
5. Choose OK.

Once you've completed those steps, you'll find the Bank Feeds shortcut will be on the left menu.

"bank account"?  What do you want to happen when you click your new button?

This is the correct answer to your question for QB Desktop on Windows:

1. Go to the Banking menu at the top.
2. Select Use Register. 
3. Choose the appropriate account you want to use on the new shortcut, then click OK. 
4. Go to the View menu at the top.
5. Click Add “Checking/Account” to Icon Bar... 
6. Under the Add Window to Icon Bar prompt, change Label to the text of your choosing and Click OK.

I am trying to add the merchant service center and the merchant bank deposit windows to my top icon bar- the area that says "add to icon bar" is grayed out?  Any ideas? They are not choices in the customize window..

Let's make sure that you already set-up your merchant account.

Then, if you're still having the same issue. I suggest updating QBDT to the latest release. QuickBooks provides maintenance release and product updates to fix known issues, add features and enhancements, as well as update compliance information.

To manually update:

1. Search for QuickBooks Desktop. Right-click the icon and select Run as administrator.
2. From the No Company Open screen, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
3. Click the Options tab and select Mark All and then choose Save.
4. Go to the Update Now tab and select the Reset Update checkbox.
5. Click Get Updates.

Once done, close and reopen QBDT. To install the updates, select Yes. You can now restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
