If you want the check to be processed by the bank, then you have to order "pre-printed" checks. Intuit sells them, but so do any of the bulk check sites on the net, just look for QB compatible checks
If you are just printing a copy of the check for some reason, maybe for your paper files, then you can print on regular paper.

Special paper is not required, and neither are "pre-printed" checks.
Also, if someone asks if they can use regular paper, one could assume they were not talking about copies to keep for themselves. You are all hat, no cattle.
Intuit is just trying to sell their over priced expensive check paper. I just dropped off a laser check at the water company on plain paper. Lady thought I was crazy "I know you think...." Before she could finish I was like "Its not that I think, it is perfectly legal" The banks just capture an image and it create a digital substitute check. Why would I ever want to spend hundreds of dollars on special paper and software when the original check just gets put in a filing cabinet and shredded eventually. As long as the check has the bastic info including: bank name, check number, account number, routing number, signature and date, its perfectly fine.
