Hello there, @user60692.

I'd be glad to guide you in printing invoices alphabetically in QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales tab on the left pane, then select Invoices.
  2. Click the Filter drop-down arrow, then modify the fields, and click Apply.
  3. Select on the word Customer at the top of each column in your transactions table to arrange the transactions in alphabetical order. Clicking on it again will reverse the order.
  4. Put a checkmark at the box before the transactions that you'll be printing.
  5. Click the Batch Actions drop-down arrow, then choose Print Invoices.
  6. A pop-up window will appear with the preview of the transactions, then you can print it.

Check this article for future reference: Email or print multiple invoices and sales forms.

I'm having that same issue in QB Desktop.  I do my monthly billing in alpha order but am using 2 different invoices.  Could that be the reason they aren't printing in alpha order?

Thanks much!

The order when printing invoices in QuickBooks Desktop is different, Whoadeb.

You can print invoices in chronological order based on the date. First, you must set the invoice to print it later. Check the screenshot below:

Once done, you can batch print those invoices:

  1. Go to the File menu and select Print Forms.
  2. Choose Invoices
  3. Select the invoices that you'd like to print by clicking the checkbox beside it.
  4. Click on OK and then set your print settings.
  5. Select on Print when you're ready.

That's exactly how I do it every time and still prints out of order.  Very odd.

I don't believe this is the correct answer to the question.

The question is: How do you get the invoice to print out with the line items in the invoice appearing in alphabetical order (in the description column) instead of by date?  I have the same issue.
