income statement

I got your back in pulling up the income statement report you need in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @carrieg1.

An income statement is one of the important financial reports of your business that showcases the profit earned or losses incurred by your business during an accounting period.

Since you need an income statement that has current month actual and budget and prior plus year-to-date actual, you'll have to pull up two sets of the Profit & Loss report (i.e., Profit & Loss YTD Comparison and Profit & Loss Prev Year Comparison). Then, you can customize them to focus on the data that matters the most. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Select Company & Financial.
  3. Choose either first the Profit & Loss YTD Comparison or Profit & Loss Prev Year Comparison
  4. Click the Customize Report button.
  5. Go to the Display tab and set the appropriate date and all other info.
  6. Select OK. Repeat the steps for the other one.

I've attached a screenshot below that shows the last three steps.

After that, you can memorize the above-mentioned reports to save the customized settings to be available for future use. You can refer to this article for the detailed steps: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

Also, QBDT provides different reports that cater to your business needs and tell where your company stands. If you wish to know more about how QuickBooks generates them, I'd recommend checking out this article: Understand reports. It also includes the complete list of available reports that the system offers.

In case you have other concerns about financial reports in QBDT, don't hesitate to leave a comment below. I'm just around to help. Take care and stay safe always.
