inconsistent hierarchy for reports vs. statement of activity...

We have a COA set up with a number of parent/child accounts.  For some of these, when we run a statement of activity (P&L) -- the accounts do not correctly get rolled up to the parent account.  But, if I run a report from the chart of accounts on the parent account, these accounts DO get rolled up correctly.  Please advise...

Two screen shots attached.  One showing the "correct" hierarchy, which was accessed by COA->Accounts->65000 General / Admin -> Run Report.

The incorrect one is shown when we run a "Statement of Activity" report from the reports menu.  You can see the various 65xxx accounts are each at the top level of the hierarchy.

If I run the report from the Chart of Accounts -> Report for the 65000 General/Admin account, the hierarchy is correct.

inconsistent hierarchy for reports vs. statement of activity...

Hi tu_ultimate!

I tried it on my end and everything looks good. I have some steps we can perform to fix this. Let's start by using an incognito window and pull up the Statement of Activity (P&L) from there.

These are the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P

Also, we can clear the cache. These are the junks files that can cause errors in QuickBooks Online and removing them can fix it. Lastly, make sure to use an up-to-date browser.

You'll want to check these links on how to make your reports more presentable:

Neither of those helped.  I'm reasonably sure there's an error in how the accounts are mapped with regard to the parent/child relationships somewhere within the COA.  We've renumbered/rearranged several accounts.  What's the mechanism to look at how these are actually mapped to each other on the back-end?
