Inventory Cost

Hello -

I'm not sure if I'm in the correct topic, but I'm having an issue with an inventory item in QB Manufacturing 2020. (Desktop)

Basically what I'm trying to do is take an inventory item and split it for Direct to Consumer sales. Generally we sell our products by the case, in this scenario we're splitting the case (1/4 = 0.25). Initially I created a sub item of the original item and divided the product by 4. As this section of the business has grown we decided to track the sales / cost separately. I've now split the item off into it's own category and track whole units as we sell them.

I'm trying to update the cost, but it's still pulling the cost from the original item, so it looks like we're losing money on each transaction which isn't the case. I was able to update one item and that's correct by creating a "build" using 25% of the original item. I repeated that with the other items but the cost didn't update it's still hitting COGS with the average cost rather than the actual cost entered in the item list. Any insight or ideas you have would be helpful!

Inventory Cost

Disregard -

Was able to figure this out.

For those looking to do the same, enter a bill for your item with the correct cost prior to the first invoice date then it will pull the new cost.
