Invoice auto numbering is incorrect

For some reason the invoice numbering dropped back from the 30s to the 20s again. Now I have multiple invoices in the 20s. It also seems that the numbering is not necessarily sequential. How do I fix the auto numbering?

Hello, User27278.

 

This happens when you manually enter invoice numbers. QBSE automatically enters the invoice number sequentially.

 

You'll want to look back and review to verify if any numbers have been duplicated and correct them. Once you identify the last number, start the next invoice so that moving forward invoice number will be correct.

This doesn’t explain why the auto numbering would go from the 30s back down to the 20s.

I've checked and found out that other users reported about invoice numbers reversing to the previously used numbers as well. Our engineers are already aware of this issue, but there isn't a turnaround time yet.
