Hi there, @Nameless515.

To get through this, you can edit the product descriptions to shorten them before creating an invoice. This way, it won't add pages when printing or downloading the transactions inside QuickBooks Online (QBO). These are the steps:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the top-right corner, click the Gear icon and select Product and Services.
  3. Locate the items you wish to modify the description and then in the Action column, click Edit.
  4. Scroll down to the Description section and then shorten it.
  5. Once done, click the Save and close button.

If you're trying to edit the description when downloading or printing the transaction, please know that the option you're trying to access is unavailable. You can edit it while creating the invoice or going through the Product and Services page.

Furthermore, here's an article to help you manage invoice payments inside QBO: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

I can see how important it is for you to have the invoice description reversed back to sentences instead of shortened ones, @Nameless515. Let me share an additional workaround to help you achieve the task in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The new invoice layout doesn't support complete sentences in the description field when being previewed. However, you can switch to the old layout to complete this task. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open your QBO account and go to +New
  2. Select Invoice
  3. At the upper right of the form, click Old layout.

If you no longer have that option, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Developers team. They will carefully review your feedback, identify areas that require enhancements, and consider incorporating them into future updates. Here's how:

  1. Hit the Gear icon at the top, then select Feedback.
  2. Type in your product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit feedback.

While we don't have a specific timeframe for its availability, you may visit our Customer Feedback page to get updates about the status of your feedback.

I COULDNT AGREE MORE! Way to DESTROY your already terrible software... Its a unbelievable that there are no good alternatives to this software.. although.. with their NEW LAYOUT change they forced on us.. I certainly will be keeping an open mind to the options out there now... The NEW format is TERRIBLE! The fact that the invoices are not adjustable like they used to be essentially forcing us to use this new layout is ridiculous! Why would you take CUSTOMIZATION away from this? Also - whenever I add a new product/service, the invoice scrolls to the top and sends me a "tax warning" because I don't have an address in the ship to area. If I put a town in there (i.e. Maplewood, NJ) it says it cant validate the address! I get clients for events that DONT YET have a venue for their event.. They want pricing but now I cant event quote them out due to this! Can you imagine writing something up with maybe 50-100 items and it scrolls to the top EVERY TIME you add an item.. then you have to scroll down to find where you were working.. ALSO -- lets say you have a page full of product/services added to the invoice and you forgot to add something ANYWHERE in there.. you used to be able to add a line item ANYWHERE in the invoice... now I have to add it at the bottom, and drag it up to wherever I need it.. this is time-consuming!@ You guys are literally causing me to double/triple my price quote times! This is crazy! The software is broken....

WHY ON EARTH would you FORCE us to move to a new format/layout that DOES NOT WORK?

-FRUSTRATED BEYOND!
