Is there a refund button somewhere in quickbooks

I’m glad to see you in the Community, granger3d1.

Yes, there’s a refund button that you can select to input the transaction. I’m here to help and guide you on how to do this in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Before proceeding, let me share some information about the refund process. The Refund receipt feature is used when a customer asks for repayment for an item or service. While a check or expense is utilized to reduce your bank's balance and to offset the customer's open credit, overpayment or prepayment.

If the reimbursement is for a product or service, let’s create a refund receipt to record it. I’m here to help make sure the process is a breeze for you.

Here’s how:

  1. In your company, tap the New menu in the upper left and select Refund receipt under Customers.
  2. On the transaction’s page, click the Customer drop-down and choose the client you want to reimburse.
  3. Press the Refund From drop-down and pick the bank you deposited the payment for the sales receipt.
  4. Enter the item or service your customer returned in the PRODUCT/SERVICE column.
  5. Make sure to fill in the remaining fields with the correction information.
  6. Click Save and close.refund receipt.png

Otherwise, enter a check or expense to refund your client’s overpayment or credit. For detailed instructions, click here and proceed directly to the Refund a customer's overpayment or credit section.

I’m adding some resources below that will guide you on how to properly handle a customers’ overpayment or credit. The solutions are scenario-based and choose the one that fits your situation.

Keep me posted if you have clarifications about creating a refund. I’m more than happy to answer them for you. Wishing you and your business continued success.
