I can see the benefit of being able to add the tip feature on your invoices for your catering business, @carsonscatering. That's why I'm here to share updates of this feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Our product engineers are constantly looking for ways to enhance the QBO system and provide convenience to its users. Currently, the tip feature isn't still available. Then, we don't have an estimated time frame as to when it'll be implemented. You may integrate a supported third-party application that offers the tip feature to your invoices. Just visit the QuickBooks Apps page to choose the one that best suits your needs.
In the meantime, I'd also recommend visiting our blog. This is to keep you updated with the latest news, features, and product enhancements for QBO: The QuickBooks Blog.
Also, I'm adding this article to further guide you in recording and adding tips or gratuity in QBO: Share tips with your team.

Good Morning!
I have not been able to find an APP that successfully allows customers to include a tip when paying an invoice. I have to also reiterate as a catering business that this is an essential part of our set up. We just moved to QB and can't believe tips are not able to be included with payment. We have already lost hundreds over the past few months.
Any suggestions???
Julie
Hi there, Julie.
At this time, since you're unable to find an app, I'd recommend looking other payments gateway through online. This way, you can include tip to an invoice.

Hello, We are using quickbooks as a new service for our messenger company. Tips are extremely crucial to our business and having to email customer to ask for tips and then change the invoice isn't professional in my opinion. Has there been any updates? It looks like this has been a continuing issue for many of your customers for years. Please advise if there is a new way to handle this. Thanks.
Hello there, @candlestick courier.
Let me go over and discuss further details on how you can add tips to the invoice.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the best way to include tips on the invoice is to add it as a line item. The option to show this as a field just like in the sales receipt form is currently unavailable. To add tips to your customer's invoice, you'll have to select the account to track it. The program will automatically create one once you've turned the feature on. However, you can also set up your own.
When finished, you can now add a tip as a line item by editing the existing invoice. I've added this article for additional reference about handling tips in QBO: Record an invoice overpayment as a tip.
Also, to request the addition of this feature, I'd recommend sending feedback to our product developers. Rest assured that they are bound to improve the software's features to suit our customers' needs and preferences. Please follow the steps below:
Once submitted, you'll want to check our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website to track your suggestion. From there, you can also add votes to other product requests that you think might help optimize your navigation.
Just in case you'll want to make your invoice forms more personalized to reflect your business identity, you can customize the templates you use.
I'm still ready to help if you have any other queries about managing tips in QBO. I'll keep an eye out for your reply. Take care always.
Divina, that is ridiculously awkward procedure. Allowing customers to discretely add a tip to their invoice (not us adding it for them) should be standard by now. Extremely disappointed with these stock answers and no actual tech advances
Yes! This should be standard, especially in light of competitors like Square who have this figured out. QB team please, can someone push this up the chain rather than continuing to give the same responses to this request?
