Is there a way to export inventory information from QB online directly into the QB POS inventory template?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, @Christi Tamayo.

At this time, there's not a way to have a direct connection from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Point of Sale. No worries, I'm here to show you how you can export Inventory data from QuickBooks Online to the QuickBooks Point of Sale Inventory Template.

Let's begin with exporting the information. In just 3 simple steps, you'll have the information you need in Excel so that you can import it to the Template. Here's how:

  1. Go to Sales in the left-hand menu, then Products and Services.
  2. Press on the More drop-down and select Run Report.
  3. Click the Export to Excel icon at the top of the Report.

Now that you have the Inventory information in Excel, you can import the Excel spreadsheet to the QuickBooks Point of Sale Inventory Template.

If you need further assistance, please let me know. I've got your back. Have a nice day.

@Christi Tamayo

There is a middleware to sync inventory data between QBO and QB POS. The cost starts from $200/month. Should you interest to explore. send your business email address in a private message to us.

The export spreadsheet does not jive with all of the columns of the POS template. I was hoping for a work around to a couple of these columns. Maybe by modifying the columns in the QBO inventory spreadsheet???

I appreciate you getting back to us, @Christi Tamayo.

Yes, you can consider adding and changing the columns in the inventory spreadsheet based on the format acceptable to QuickBooks Point of Sale (QB POS). Let me provide you the Excel data format for a smooth import.

Here are the following:

  • There should be no dashes in empty excel fields.
  • Remove empty rows and columns.
  • Delete hidden columns.
  • Don't use formulas, hyperlinks, and special characters i.e.: @,#,$,%,&,*
  • Use “clear contents” instead of deleting info separately.

Also, you can use the third-party application shared by Fiat Lux - ASIA above. This way, your inventory data will sync to your QB POS.

Please touch base with me here for all of your QuickBooks needs, I'm always happy to help. Have a great day and keep safe.

There is one major flaw with this method. It doesn't include the inventory images when exporting. Please let me know if there is a way to include the items images.

Hello there, @Meier.

Currently, QuickBooks Online doesn't have an option to include images when exporting. You'll want to look at a third-party app that you can integrate and generate item images when exporting. You can find the list of supported applications by visiting this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/.

Additionally, here are some helpful references that you can check out about attachments:

Please know that you're always welcome to post any questions you have in this space. Have a great day ahead.•
