Is there a way to lookup recurring transactions (journal entries) that have been used?

I use a recurring transaction for unscheduled journal entries around every quarter. They are saved as Journal Entry 3, for example. I want to look up all the times I used a template but don't know how since I don'e remember the journal entry number to search.

Great to see you here in the Community, nicki2!

The recurring transaction
is a feature in QuickBooks Online that allows you to save time and reduce mistakes. By using recurring transactions, you can run repetitive journal entries. I will make sure that you can check those templates that you create.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon on the top menu.
  2. Choose Recurring Transactions under Lists.
  3. Select the invoice template and hit the Edit link under Action.
  4. In the Type field, make sure you selected Scheduled.
  5. Tick Save template.

You can check this article if you have further assistance on how to Edit a recurring template

Thanks @DebSheenD is there a way to get more specific with the filtering? Your idea is exactly what I want--a report that shows journal entries. However, it's listing every single deposit and payment when I follow your steps rather than just the customized journal entries I've created...

I got you cover, @nicki2.

I'll share the steps on how you can filter the journal report. Here's how.

  1. In the Journal report, tap the Customize button at the top.
  2. Scroll towards the Filter drop-down.
  3. Tick the Transaction Type box, then look for Journal Entry.
  4. Click Run report.

Here's how it looks like.
