Job log/list

I have Customers that have multiple jobs.  I want to be able to have a list of all jobs in numerical order.  When I go to Customer center the list is sorted by Customer then Job under Customer. I am looking for a list based on job number?  Basically a job log.  Ideally I would click on that job number and have the job information available.

I tried adding a job description column but I can't sort based on that other than within the customer.  Simple example of what I am looking for:

21-01 - Joes plumbing

21-02 - Bills plumbing

21-03 - Joes plumbing

21-04 - Jacks heating

Job log/list

It's good to see you here again in the Community, @donloew.

I'll walk you through on how you can create a job log report for your customers.

You're doing it right. You'll need to click on the job number so the job information will show up. This way, you can log the details to a spreadsheet (Excel) and be able to get your desired data.

Know that the system only displays job number and names on the Customer Center's list.

To give you the customization of reports that are available in the system, please scan through this link: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

I can see the importance of being able to pull up a job log report right away in QuickBooks Desktop. I encourage you to send this preference to our developers. They are always considering adding new features to the system to cope with your business needs.

To do that:

  1. Click on Help at the top menu bar.
  2. Pres on Send Feedback Online.
  3. Key in your Product Suggestion

You can also visit our Firm of the Future sight to be updated with our product road-maps.

Reach out to me whatever questions you may have about QuickBooks. I’m more than happy to assist further. Have a good one.

Job log/list

Are you telling me my request is not possible?  I do not see where you have answered my question.  I am aware customizable reports and do not see the option to generate a list of jobs based on job name.  I am also aware of the feedback option.  Neither answer my question.

I appreciate you getting back to us, donloew.

I'm here to confirm that the option to have a list of all jobs in numerical order is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

You can follow BettyJane's suggestion which is to export the job log report to excel and modify the information base on your preference.

Here's a link that you can visit for your future task and activities in QuickBooks Desktop: Help articles for QuickBooks Desktop.

If you have additional questions while managing reports, just let me know. I'm here to further assist. Have a good one.

Job log/list

Has anyone figured out the job list by job name/number question? This has totally wrecked my transition to QBs: My team uses TSheets and we need everything by job number/name. I do have the new jobs entered in to QBs as Number/Name and it shows up ok in TSheets but running a report in QBs is a nightmare. Downloading to Excel gives me a format that has to be reworked so that I can sort by job. The last months unbilled hours by job took me an hour to sort. If anyone has suggestions-much appreciated.

I appreciate you following up about the job list by job name question in QuickBooks, @jnagele. I'd be pleased to help share insight about this so you can run reports seamlessly.

I understand the importance of being able to sort the job list by job report. For now, you may download the report through an Excel file to modify the hours and other details you want to sort.

At this time, there isn’t a specific time frame as to when this feature will be available. Our development team is constantly working to improve the product and appreciates the help of users in bringing things like this to their attention. I've already taken note of your suggestion and will inform you whenever we have it available for our users.

You may also follow the steps shared by BettyJaneB if you haven't sent feedback to our product development team. All product enhancements and feature releases are based on how much it benefits the totality of users.

I'll be sharing this article that guides you to the different reports that cater to your business needs. All available reports can be accessed through the QuickBooks Reports menu: Understand reports.

Be sure to let me know how else I can empower you to make QuickBooks work the way your business needs. I'll gladly help.
