Job Profitability Report for JOBS ONLY

I need to report on all JOBS - not all customers.

When pulling the standard Job Profitability reports, it pulls in every single customer whether a job has been created or not.

I need a report of JOBS and jobs only.

I do not want to see details of invoices attached at the customer level - eg. no job has been created.

I do not want to go through the exercise of selecting customers individually - this is ludicrous.

A filter of 'null' or 'not null' on job description would work, but of course that's not an option.

How do I get to this information without having to select multiple customers and click on each and every job?

One way is to filter the report by Job Type.  This will work where all of your Jobs have a Job Type and your customer don't (customers without Jobs can have a Job Type).

To filter the report, pick Job Type as the Filter, then pick Multiple Job Types, and then on the resulting window that appears, select all the Job Types (or all that you want to report on).

It'll look like this in QuickBooks:

Job Profitability Report for JOBS ONLY

I understand every business has unique needs, @mwil048. Let me address your concern about customizing the Job Profitability report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to display only the jobs.

In QBDT, it's crucial for the Job Profitability report to include customer details associated with each project to help prevent confusion, especially in businesses dealing with multiple projects and clients simultaneously. By doing so, it enhances transparency, precision, and the overall efficiency of your business operations.

Currently, we're unable to exclude customer information from the report and display only the jobs. We're aware of how challenging it is to select each project manually when customizing, and we want to make it up to you. That said, I'll help you relay your valuable input to our software developers so they can consider implementing your request in our upcoming product updates. To do that:

  1. Go to Help and click Send Feedback Online.
  2. Select Product Suggestion.
  3. Enter your feature request, then Send Feedback.

Furthermore, you can take your reports from QBDT and analyze them in Excel. Doing so provides flexibility to include information that will help get insights about your business.

We appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts, mwil048. Your input helps us understand your needs and improve our services. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for further queries concerning the Job Profitability report in QBDT. The Community is available 24/7 to offer assistance. Stay safe.

I don't know who told you that, but it sounds like total nonsense. A Job Profitability report that shows a bunch of activity that is not job related can't possibly "help prevent confusion, especially in businesses dealing with multiple projects and clients simultaneously."  Instead, it will only add confusion as the report is hard to read and probably a mile long.

RE: Currently, we're unable to exclude customer information from the report and display only the jobs.

Well I'm able to. Not sure why you aren't. You could tell the customer how to do it, as I did, instead of wrongly saying it can't be done..

RE: Go to the Gear icon.  Select Feedback under Profile. Enter your feature recommendation and click Next.

That won't be helpful, even if the customer could do this, but they can't because they're using Desktop.  These instructions are for Online.  Please be more careful to copy/paste the correct canned answer when responding to customers.  While still unhelpful, at least you won't be actually wrong when you describe how to give feedback.
