Lost the plus button to add a line to an invoice

We're glad to have you here in the forum, info2022.

I have the troubleshooting you need to locate the missing plus (+) button to add a new line item on invoices.

In QuickBooks Online, the plus (+) button will appear after clicking an existing line item for your product or services if you have the old layout. While the only available option for the new interface is the Add product or service dropdown.

However, you can instead utilize the Add lines button if you're using the old invoicing experience. Let's also utilize a private window to check if this issue is related to corrupted cache files that cause the missing button.

You can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Shift + Ctrl + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N

After that, you can clear the cache from your regular browser to prevent related discrepancies. Also, use a supported browser for the best and most secure experience.

On the other hand, consider personalizing your sales forms to improve business communication with the guidance of this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

If you have further questions or clarifications when adding line items on invoices, feel free to revisit the Community. We're here to lend a hand.

Yes and you can no longer ad an extra blank line in an quote, estimate or invoice. And you can not remove taxes on a line item.

yes. the removal of the add line feature on QBO is really stupid.  Simply no reason to remove it as it allowed you to put a space in between your products, now they are all bunched together and now very hard to read.  The only workaround I have found is to create a zero dollar amount product with no description named (.) this is the least obtrusive way to get a space between product line.  What idiot at quickbooks thought it was a good idea to remove this most basic functionally?????????????

Thanks for making my daily tasks a bit harder Intuit.....
