We own an auto repair and towing business. I have always used Quickbooks to process payroll for our employees, but our accountant has requested that we use it for all of our business. Entering and paying bills via Quickbooks is rather simple, but I am having trouble with the revenue entry. Due to the nature of our business, we utilize one program for our auto repair invoicing and a second one for our towing. Neither program is compatible with Quickbooks without paying a large sum of money that is just not reasonable. Since we do not do any invoicing from Quickbooks, I would like to know how to enter our daily revenue into the program without re-entering each individual customer/job. I would basically like to have a daily entry for taxable and nontaxable sales for both divisions of the company. Admittedly, I become extremely confused when we look into journal entries with the double entry accounting procedures. I see the Sales Receipt feature and thought that would work, but I'm not sure how to set up the "customer/job" for this to work.
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance!!
Journal entries should be the exception when using QB, they often do not work as you think they should, and when you use inventory type items they never work for inventory. It is much better to use the forms on the home page the way QB is designed to be used. Journal entries also bypass accrual/cash reporting, and will not show on many reports.
yes use a sales receipt to record daily summary entries
QB works on items, an item is what you sell or do, and each item posts to one account of your choice
this is kind of the bible of how to do summary sales

Happy Friday, @TCavins.
You’ve reached the right place to enter manual entry of daily sales. You can enter a sales receipt to report the total daily sales if you simply don’t invoice customers. This will save you time, while keeping your invoice reports accurate.
Here’s how:
I’m attaching an article about recording your total daily sales:
I’m here to help anytime you have questions.
Its not a QuickBooks Desktop link. Its not helpful at all
You may need a 3rd party importer tool to do so.
I also own a towing company however I do not own a repair shop. I have using Towbook for our towing service and that connects directly to QB's. Their monthly cost for their service is affordable, it's an awesome tool for the towing side of your business and for your drivers.
Hi, Can you please help me to book sales on monthly basis?
What would be the J.E for that we are using vend and I am not finding a way to reconcile the account monthly?
Help, please!
