Mass change assets to different GL number

I have 700+ assets that are categorized under an obsolete account. I want to move all assets to a new account number. I can change individual assets but want to be able to change all at one time.

Mass change assets to different GL number

Hey there, @ILT_Consultant.

For now, the option to change multiple assets all at once is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

You'll have to manually edit each account to update their account number. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Lists menu and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Right-click on the account that you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit Account.
  4. Update the account details.
  5. Select Save & Close.

I can see how this feature would lessen your task in QuickBooks. Thus, I'll take note of this to improve your product experience.

You can also send feedback to our developers so they can review your suggestions. This will give them ideas on which part of the program they need to upgrade and include in upcoming updates.

  1. Go to Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click Product Suggestion.
  3. Enter your suggestions, then select Send Feedback.

Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have other concerns managing your accounts in QuickBooks. I'll be more than happy to help you again.

Utilize a migration tool as a workaround.
