Hello all, apologies if this is mentioned somewhere else in this thread, but I think I might have found the specific issue with any memorized reports not working in QB 21.0. We upgraded from 18.0 to 21.0, but with this being a known issue before we upgraded we have both versions available to us. This would at least allow us to open our backed-up company file in 18.0 and open the memorized reports that don't work in 21.0 and re-create them by adding the same filters, etc. However, when looking at the memorized reports list in 18.0 I saw something when I right-clicked on a memorized report that says "Export Template". This had me excited because maybe all we had to do was export the template from 18.0 and import into 21.0. No such luck, but here's the specifics:
In 18.0, when I go to "Export Template" for any reports that are broken in 21.0, I'm asked to pick a file location to save to. Then when I click "save" I am prompted with an error that says:
"PROBLEM - QuickBooks cannot export this memorized reports because it contains filter settings unique to your company file.
SOULTION - Look for filter settings that would not work for a different company file... (gives an example) ... Change the filter settings and memorize the report again."
In our case, the "unique" filter the error is simply referring to any specific customers/jobs we have selected in our filters. There are no other "unique" types of filters on these reports. However, I do not get this error when trying to export templates for memorized reports that don't use any customer/jobs in the filters.
I'm not saying this is a solution nor am I saying that QB shouldn't have found and squashed this issue before forcing everyone to upgrade to 21.0 by May 31st, but I'm hoping this sheds some light so the folks at QB can narrow down their search for the root cause. QB, please help!!!
As grandpa Simpson would say, "Thanks for listening!" (or reading, I guess)
Same Issue going from 2018 to 2021. Quickbooks support just had me on the phone for hours and no help. If its a known issue why don't they just say that its known and there is no solution instead of running you through hours of nonsense?
I am having the exact same issue. We upgraded from QB Enterprise 18 to Enterprise 21 and now none of the Memorized Reports are working. Will be watching this thread.
Getting nervous. I week away from losing all my reports! The March 31 2021 deadline was extended to May 31, 2021.due to this issue. Hey Tech Support, where are you at in figuring out this problem. I am supposedly on the list to be notified once you have figured out how to migrate the used memorized reports from a previous version to 2021 but haven't heard a thing. I even allowed data from one of my data files to help identify the problem. All I get are "kudo" notifications and "contact QB to get on the list to be notified" once you have corrected this HUGE problem. I WILL LOSE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS, CREATED OVER 10+ YEARS and I am one of many people letting know THIS IS AN ISSUE. Please advise current status. I am hoping that you will be extending the deadline if you haven't designed a solution as yet.
I know this hasn't been easy for you and your business, LEAS_SM.
I would suggest reaching out to our Customer Care Support Team. They can pull up your account in a secure environment. From there, they can check the status and can further assist you with your concerns.

Same here. Nothing I have tried works and when I do re-create a report, it freezes when I try to memorize it.
Glad to have you here in the Community, smoore1211.
I understand how important the memorized reports are. I'm here to help you.
We would like to inform you that this issue has been resolved. QuickBooks 2021 R6 is now available. Let's make sure you get that installed to resolve this issue.
Here's how to check if you have the latest release of QuickBooks:
Set up automatic updates
You can check this article for more details: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
Once installed, a rebuild needs to be run in order for the reports to start working.
Refer to this article on how to verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.
In case you send out reports on a certain schedule, you can take a look at this article: Set up and modify Scheduled Reports. The article lists the requirements for scheduled reports. It also has the steps on how to set up, edit or delete a scheduled report.
Please let me know if you need further assistance fixing the problem. The Community and I will be here to help you.
I'm not certain this is a 2021 issue. We just updated multiple files, some from Enterprise 18 to 19 some 18 to 20 and others 19 to 20. All had the same problem, memorized reports inoperable. We deliberately avoided updating to 2021. Maybe Intuit is looking in the wrong place.
Spoke to support and my memorized reports are now working.
Do a desktop update - help/update now (reset updates)
Then rebuild data -file/utilities/rebuild data
Then resort memorized reports - reports/memorized reports/memorized reports list
- view/re-sort list
We are using enterprise: Manufacturing & Wholesale 2021, we did an upgrade recently, but we had this issue of not being able to open Memorized reports before the upgrade. It is very frustrating!
We have the latest version R6_21 but we are still experiencing the issue of not being able to open memorized reports. But it isn't all of them just some of them and they randomly stop working.
Thanks for joining this thread, mary46.
This isn’t the kind of experience I want you to have after upgrading to QuickBooks Desktop 2021. Updating the program's maintenance release and performing Rebuild Data will repair those damaged memorized reports.
To start, download the latest release for your QuickBooks. This process will resolve any issues or errors you encounter when working in the desktop program. Let me guide you on how to do this in your company file.
Next, run the Verify Data Utility tool to check for damaged file items. If it finds one, running the Rebuild Data tool will repair the problem in your QuickBooks company file.
Here’s how:
If it finds an issue, click Rebuild or OK to continue using the company file. If the issue persists, perform Solutions 1-2 in this article: A memorized report does not open or opens a different report.
To learn more about the Memorize Reports feature, you can browse through this article: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.
It provides detailed information on how to resolve common issues when memorizing reports. Also, it contains links that will guide you about editing the report list, setup a memorized report group, etc.
Don’t hesitate to post a comment below if you have other QuickBooks concerns or questions about reports. I’m always ready to help and make sure you’re taken care of. Have a good one.
