Trying to trace back through some transactions that are in question following a case of fraud and problem transactions, and I tried to research for some entries using the Audit Report. Specifically, our Undeposited Funds report shows some entries from January 2022, but I don't see them in the bank statements. I tried to run an Audit Report to see the detail entries in the deposit, but to my surprise, I didn't find the entries in the Audit Report! Not sure how that happens, but if anyone has a clue what that problem might come from, please let me know.
Additionally, the Audit Report seems to be sorted in a "transaction type" order, but within that, the date of the transactions is like vegetable soup ... there appears to be no order to the dates at all, and I haven't found an option to sort the report into a transaction date order (within transaction type is fine ... i.e. ideally I would like to see a filter for All Banks, then sort by transaction type (so my deposits are grouped together) and then by the original transaction date. I understand why the other dates for adjustments to the original transaction are present (Latest and Prior), and that's fine ... they would still be there if the original date was the sort option.
I would appreciate any suggestions on the reason items are missing from the Audit Report, and if there is some way to get a more useful sort order in the Audit Report presentation. Thanks in advance for any assitance.

@Big-Al RE: As I continue to look, I now discover that in the report I asked to run from 4/1/22 - 4/30/22 that there is an entry with an original transaction date of 5/6/22 included in the report! What is going on with this Audit Report???
As @Archie_B mentioned, the Audit Report (and actually other reports as well) can be filtered on two different date ranges. However, the Audit Report is unique in that the dates you see at the top of the report are different and filter the report to include transactions that were entered or edited in the selected date range instead of the transactions' accounting/posting dates.
This is expressed at the top of the report and when you click the Customize Report button, by the custom labels for the date filter. The report defaults to all the transactions entered or edited today, regardless of their transaction dates:
You can also see this on the Filters tab:
If you want to see the history for a specific transaction, and you don't know when it was edited, to do that, change the Filters. Delete the Entered/Modified filter and replace it with the standard Date filter, and set that filter to the date of the transaction you're researching, like this:
The Date filter will show you transactions and their history for all the transactions that currently have transaction dates in the date range, even when/if their historic dates were different.
For example, here's a report where I changed the filter. It shows All at the top of the report, and the deposit is included, based on the transaction date, and the history shows an older version with a date outside of the filtered date range of "Today":
Note that you can't change the order transactions are displayed, which is always grouped first by the user. Also, if more than one person has edited a transaction, it and it's entire history will appear under each user:

Hi there, Big-Al.
Allow me to share some information and make sure you all information needed in your Audit Trail report.
The Audit Trail report has two date range settings. When filtering the results, you'll have to enter the date of the transactions and the date entered/last modified. You can use this article to learn more: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
If your report still has missing entries, we can use the Verify and Rebuild Utility Tools to look for any known data issues in your company file.
To verify data:
To rebuild data:
In rare cases, a company file backup is required prior to a rebuild because the process may need to delete transactions or list entries to fix the file. A backup of your company file ensures that you have a secure copy of your company file before making any changes to it.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. I'd be delighted to help. Be safe and have a wonderful day!
