Buy nowHow do I run monthly reports showing total sales and non-taxable sales. It seems that our profile may have been set up incorrectly as the Sales Tax Liability Report does not reflect the same amounts when I calculate manually. On the report, Gross Amount is very much off!
Hi Sherry 15!
Welcome to QuickBooks Community. Let me show you how to run a sales report in QuickBooks Online.
You can run the Sales Tax Liability Report to get the total taxable sales and how much you owe to tax agencies. With regard to the gross amount, you can pull up the Profit and Loss. All these reports can be found on the Reports menu.
QuickBooks Online uses automated sales tax. The system will calculate the sales on your behalf based on the following:
As long as the details, especially the addresses, are correct when recording the sales transactions, then the sales tax should be correct. You can review this article about the sales tax center: Set up and use automated sales tax in QuickBooks Online.
In addition, here's the article if you need to customize the reports to get accurate data: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Thank you so much for the response. I just tried the profit and loss report, but the totals are off. Yesterday, I was able to export the invoice list for last month to my excel and the total of invoices billed was $32,878.39. However, the profit and loss report says $29,926.50. Difference of 2951.89!
I have been trying to resolve this so we can correctly pay sales tax to the state, but still have had no success.
Next, I will follow your link "Customize reports in QuickBooks online", but any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Aside from the Sales Tax Liability report, you can also run the Taxable Sales Detail report. Then, customize it to show the taxable amount as well as nontaxable sales. Here's how:
This will give you all the details of the taxable gross amount and the amounts of taxes on each of the transactions.
To get the nontaxable sales amount, follow the steps in this article on how to add more customization to the report: Create a Non-Taxable sales Report in QuickBooks Online.
