Hi, @zoeyjohnson13.
I understand it can get frustrating to have your issues at repeated occurrences. The investigation about the custom invoice template that is no longer working with the progress invoicing was previously resolved. However, since there are customers who are still experiencing the same issue, our engineers decided to reopen the investigation to dig deeper as to what's causing the problem to reoccur.
As of now, we haven't received any updates if when this will resolve but rest assured that our engineers are currently investigating and working on an immediate fix. Rest assured that we’ll keep you posted once the issue is resolved. If you already added to the INV-29795 list of the affected users, you’ll be notified through email.
I appreciate your patience as we work through this. If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. I'll be around to help you out.
My question is why has it been over a year and Quickbooks still has not resolved this issue. I have filed numerous complaints on the same exact problem and the only thing they continually tell me is that you are on the list of effected. However if they are working on the same issue for over a year now it seems to me that the need new engineers to resolve the problem exponentially. They don't seem to have a problem withdrawing the monthly fee on my account on a regular basis, but it's been a year they still can not resolve this issue. Currently looking for a new means of sending invoices and discontinuing my account.
I appreciate you for voicing out your feedback, @dentsalvation.
This is not the experience that we want you to have. Updates about the investigation on the issue with customized invoice templates were closed as resolved. Also, fix are directly applied to your account. You'll also be notified about it via email.
Let's ensure to assign the invoice that you want to use as the default custom invoice style before creating an invoice. Here's how:
Feel free to leave a post below if you have other questions.
I have created updated custom templates that match each other on QB desktop so that when I create invoices from estimates, they should look the same. However, all invoices created from estimates revert back to an old template that I no longer want to use. I see this issue is a problem for many here, although all of the suggestions and most of the posters are using QB online version. I'm not.
If I go to my templates list and click each of them open, they all look correct. It's when I create an invoice that it is reverting to an old template that shouldn't even exist with all the changes I made.
Will this be resolved soon? I have applied all updates to my version of QB (Desktop Pro 2019).
Also-- addendum to my above message: When I use the help feature to figure out how to duplicate templates, the instructions tell me to go to lists, templates, select the one I want to duplicate, right click and then select "duplicate" from the drop down menu, then select the template I want top apply it to. Except the word "duplicate" is not in my drop down list, anywhere.....
Very frustrating.
Hello there, @B Johnson.
Thanks for joining in this conversation. I appreciate the detailed information you've shared.
Your data file may be damaged this why the Duplicate isn't showing in the drop-down selection and the cause why the changes you've made in the invoice template reverts to the old one.
Let's fix this by running the Verify and Rebuild Utility Tool.
Rebuild Data:

My issue has more to do with progress invoicing itself, not the template. I'm trying to invoice for a dollar amount and it usually lets me say how much and it automatically adjusts each item. It appears to not be connected to the invoice any longer. Any ideas?
Thanks for sharing the details with me, @bsslayton3.
Let’s perform some troubleshooting steps to isolate this issue. I recommend deleting and recreating your progress invoice template. Let me show you how.
You can also refer to this article for more details in creating a progress invoice template in QBO: Set up and send progress invoices in QuickBooks Online.
However, if you’re using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software, you’ll want to follow the troubleshooting steps provided by my colleague katherinejoyceO above.
I also have here articles that you can read for reference in case you’ll need to accept online payments in your QuickBooks account:

I tried your solution; all data verified and updated with no issues, but I still revert to an old template when converting estimates to invoices. Any other suggestions?
I figured out why my estimate was reverting to an old invoice template-- it hadn't been made inactive. Once I did that, the estimates are now going to the one active invoice template which is the correct, updated one. For others with this issue, check to see if you have older format templates that have not been made inactive (lists, templates, and see if you have more than one version of templates still active. Deactivate the one you want to "kill off." Hope it works for others. Surprised this simple fix has not occurred to QB to suggest.
My Invoices say “Estimate” instead of “Invoice”
Hi there, palmer2022.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community. The invoice form name may be set to "estimate". I can help you change that to fix the issue.
