Hello Experts!
Thanks in Advance for your help.
I'm wondering if there is an already built report that would give me Net Income by Class & Month. Please see below example, and I have attached it as well.
I do not need to see any of the other P&L accounts and their balances - I just want the final net income number.
If there is not an already built report, can someone point me in the right direction of creating my own custom report?

It's a pleasure to have you here, @MALang. Let me provide some ideas about generating Net Income by Class & Month report in QuickBooks Desktop.
We can run the Profit & Loss report to show your business' final net income number. Then we can add some filters to manifest the information you want on the data.
Here's how:
To further customize, you can export this to Excel. From there, you can add some columns and rows to add the details you want in the report.
I'm also adding this article to guide you tailored the Net income report: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
Moreover, you may consider reading this resource to help you memorize reports in QuickBooks: Create, access, and modify memorized data. It includes steps on how to set up, edit and delete this report.

2. When the Modify Report window appears, select or enter the date range.
3. Then set Display Columns by to Month and Display Rows by to Class.
4. On the filters tab, verify that the Account filter is "All Income/expense accounts", which seems to be the default.
5. Optionally, on the Header/Footer tab, give the report a title that describes it.
The Display tab should look like this:
Your report will look something like this:
Hi, @MALang.
Hope you’re doing great. I wanted to see how everything is going about generating Net Income by Class & Month report concern you had the other day. Was it resolved? Do you need any additional help or clarification? If you do, just let me know. I’d be happy to help you at any time.
Looking forward to your reply. Have a pleasant day ahead!
Can you run a P&L by Class for YTD and have each month listed separately within each Class? The rows would be Accounts (Chart of Accounts) and the columns would be Class, but within the class, each month listed separately. So P&L by Class, by Month. Is that possible?
I can see how this functionality would be beneficial to your business, osparkelo.
If you're using the QuickBooks Desktop program, you can follow the suggested steps above to run the Profit & Loss by Class and export it to Excel to customize further.
On the other hand, the option to customize the Profit & Loss report by class each month isn't currently available if you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I know how important to have a functionality that can add columns to customize the Profit and Loss by Class report to show the amounts monthly. While this is unavailable in QBO, I'd recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. They can review your suggestions and might make some adjustments in the next update. Let me show you how:
In the meantime, you'll want to consider customizing the Report period by month of the Profit & Loss report by Class and exporting it to an Excel file one at a time.
Furthermore, here are some articles that will help you streamline the reporting process in QuickBooks Online:

I would like to use these features, but my modify report box does not have the following options:
Display Rows by or
Display Columns For
We are using Enterprise 2021 Contractor. Do we need a different version to see these options?
Hello, colsen531.
The Display Rows by or Display Columns For is available in QuickBooks Enterprise 2021 Contractor Edition. Either option is found by pulling up the Custom Summary Report. From the Reports menu, click on Custom Reports, then select Summary.
I would like to further help you with your reports. What specific report data are you trying to build? Knowing this option would help me come up with a resolution.
Looking forward to your reply.
Is this possible in QuickBooks Online? This would be soooo useful to me and save a ton of excel hi-jinks to get to the same output
Thanks for joining the thread, Proflutzy.
If you are referring to running the Profit and Loss by class with monthly net income for each month, then that option is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, we can run the Profit and Loss by Class in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Plus and Advanced version and export them to Excel. From there, you can calculate and add each class's net income for each specific month by hand.
Before running the report, let's make sure we turn on the class tracking feature. Let me guide you on how:
