Join nowI need to download my banking transactions and it is requiring me to import a statement first. (My credit union switched to a digital format, assuming this is the issue.) The downloaded transactions from the correct account (business checking) come in .csv, the statement which includes all accounts including ones I don't want to import are in .pdf. Neither are available for importing (greyed out).
I need to get this done!
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
2022. I used to be able to download qbo statements from the specific account quickly and easily. This is the first time since the switch.
You can use the trial version of pdf2qbo and csv2qbo converter tool.

Welcome, and thank you for reaching out to us here on the Community page, jgirard67. I understand the importance of importing your bank transactions, especially in keeping your books accurate.
At this time, uploading your bank statements in PDF or CSV format is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. I recommend reaching out to your bank to verify if they offer a .qbo file type. It is the only acceptable format when uploading data to QuickBooks.
Alternatively, you can either manually add the transactions in the program or look for a third-party application to convert your file so you can import it into your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac account. QuickBooks integrates with hundreds of third-party software developers. You can visit our QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace to view a wide range of options.
Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always here to help. Have a good day!
This is only a somewhat helpful reply. I have been using Quickbooks for Mac Desktop for about 8 years, so importing a qbo file is familiar. What isn't familiar is the updated version suddenly telling me that if I wish to download my bank transactions I need to import a statement from the bank first. No format for said statement is given in the instructions. No explanation is given for why I suddenly have to go through this additional hoop to be able to download my transactions (something I'm trying to do in a timely manner to get ahead of the tax curve and this step is poorly explained and stalling all progress).
We appreciate you for coming back.
When it comes to importing your bank statements with the correct format, we recommend reaching out to your financial institution. They have their setup process to import the bank entries to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Please contact your bank for them to provide you with detailed information about the changes in the import process.
Also, QuickBooks doesn't control which transactions are downloaded from your bank and it only displays the info received from your bank. Once the setup process is finished, we can start downloading and importing your bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
When you download transactions through Web Connect, QuickBooks opens them from a .qbo file. Here’s how to download and import this file into QuickBooks.
