Payments made from wrong company

We have three separate qb companies.  I processed two payroll checks and one vendor check in the correct company but printed them on another company's checks.  I'm not sure ho to correct this.  I need to transfer funds from one company to the next to reimburse, but don't feel I can edit the processed checks as they're tied to 1099s and W2s, and feel that transferring creates a duplication that won't reconcile.

Payments made from wrong company

Hello there, @lbacutting. I'm here to assist you with the payments that you've made from the wrong company and transfer the funds to avoid duplication.

You can create a Check or an Expense and transfer the funds to the correct company. Then make a Bank Deposit for the receiving company. I'll show you how.

  1. Click the Banking menu.
  2. Choose Transfer Funds on the drop-down selection.
  3. Pick the account you want to transfer the funds from.
  4. Select the account you want to transfer the funds to.
  5. Enter the desired amount you want to be transferred.
  6. Click the Save & Close button.

Once done, you can create a Bank Deposit for the receiving company.

  1. Go to the Banking menu at the top menu.
  2. Select Make Deposits.
  3. In the Payments to Deposit window, choose the payment you want to include with the deposit.
  4. Click OK and it will go to the Make Deposits window.
  5. Tap the Deposit To list and choose the bank account you want to deposit into.
  6. Enter the necessary information.
  7. Hit Save & Close.

Also, regarding the checks that are tied to 1099s and W2s, you can void the paycheck. However, depending on your processing time, the debit from your bank account for payroll taxes and direct deposit may not be stopped.

  1.  Select the Employees menu, then select Edit/Void Paychecks.
  2. Change the Show paychecks through/from dates to the date of the paychecks you need to void, then press Tab on your keyboard.
  3. Select the check-in question and select Void.
  4. In the pop-up box, enter YES and select Void.
  5. Select the checkbox to agree to the terms and conditions of voiding the paycheck.
