Products and Services and Chart of Accounts

Sorry for the ambiguous title. I really wasn't sure what to put for a title....

I'm looking for a work around or fix to an issue I have, let me explain.

I have 2 main sources of income that are going into quickbooks. One of them is a very slow and tedious process where I export sales transactions from a platform that doesn't connect to QBO, I then make the receipts and add them to QBO. What I love about this is I can go to the report for sales by product/service and see exactly where my income is coming from and the percentages of these services.

My second source of income has been migrated to a new platform that integrates with QBO. I was SOO happy. What it looks like was me matching sales types/products/services from said platform with a QBO chart of account. So I had to create around 25 COA that match each of these items. Then what happens is the integration creates a journal entry to move the money into the chart of account as well as into the undeposited funds. Once the funds hit my bank account it quickly matches to the journal entry. Fantastic!

Unfortunately, my problem now occurs. I can view the sales from the CoA through my P&L, but I can no longer view the products/services report and see where my income is coming from.

I do not need to know all the seperate 25 sources for this new integration, I'm more than happy with just one "service" that is called Source Number 2, just so I can see how this compares with the other source. I just don't know how I can do this. I'm thinking something like a monthly journal where I move the money from the parent coa and into a product named source number 2, except journal entries don't let you add into products, only chart of accounts. So I don't know how I can do this. I thought perhaps I could make a sale receipt called Source Number 2, the description could be September Sales and put the total in there, but then I risk duplicating my profits. I would need to move the funds from the coa. I just don't know how to do that.

Would love to hear some advice... Thank you for your time.
