Profit and Loss by Location Summary

My client is a house flipper and is wanting a simplified report of Profit and Loss By Location but he is only wanting it to show the following:

  • Total Income
  • Total Cost of Goods Sold
  • Gross Profit
  • Total Expenses
  • Net Operating Income
  • Total Other Income
  • Total Other Expenses
  • Net Other Income
  • Net Income

How would I go about creating this report?   He doesn't want to see the individual line makeups just the total.

Profit and Loss by Location Summary

Let's create the Profit and Loss by Location report according to your client's needs, @siemma0522.

The Profit and Loss by Location report already have all the data that your client wants to see. Since they don't need the individual line markups, let them select the dropdown arrow that breakdown the details of each report's section (i.e., Total Income, Gross Profit, etc.). This way, they're able to view only the total of each component. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. In the Business overview section on the Standard tab, select Profit and Loss by Location.
  3. Set the Report period and click Run report.
  4. Click the dropdown arrow of each report section.

You can let your client customize the Profit and Loss by Location report so they can focus on the details that matter to them the most. Then, have it exported to download the data into their computer's local hard drive. For the step-by-step guide, you can refer to this article: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Also, financial reports give your clients snapshots of different areas of their business. With this, I'm adding this article to see the complete list of available reports in QBO: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

Let me know if you have other reporting concerns and questions about managing client's data/transactions in QBO. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @siemma0522.
