HI All,
I seem to be having an issue that I do not understand. My company is a construction company and we use estimates to quote a job. So we enter the estimate under the customers name. Once we are awarded the contract, I then switch the customer to a project and my screen does not show the same as all the videos I have seen on projects. the first pic is my the way my project show and the second is the way it shows on all videos. Am I doing something wrong? Why is my screen so different?
Any insights will be greatly appreciated.
thank you
Hello there, @nathalie-empire2. You're already on the right track in using the Projects feature to track job costs in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'd love to share a few insights into why your screen is different from the videos you've seen on projects so you can manage your transactions accordingly.
You aren't doing something wrong with your projects in QBO. Based on your pictures above, both screens (first and second) are correct. They're only showing different pages or sections from the Projects menu. That's why it seems your screen isn't the same as the ones you've seen on videos.
The first picture is the Projects feature's main page. It's where you can view the list of all your projects and their statuses and create new ones. While the second one is the specific or individual project's Overview tab.
You'll have to select a project from the main page to view the Overview section. From there, you can also check your project's Transactions, Time Activity, Reports, and Attachments. Please see the screenshots below for your reference.
Also, you may want to check out this article as your reference in case you need to learn more about Projects in QBO: Projects FAQ. It answers the most commonly asked questions about the feature and what you can do with it in tracking your job costs.
Let me know if you have other Projects concerns or questions about tracking your job costs in QBO. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and have a great day, @nathalie-empire2.
thanks for your response but when I click on the individual project i still do not get the same screen. here is what I have. I tried all different screens, main and individual and I do not see the same as the videos.
Thanks for the immediate response, @nathalie-empire2. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps so you can access the Overview tab from within your projects in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
You should be able to select the Overview tab right before Transactions while accessing your individual projects. Based on your screenshot above, it seems that you have a corrupted or a damaged webpage data. This is sometimes be caused by the browser's collection of data over time from frequent page visits.
To fix this, you'll want to pull up your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser (incognito). Here's how:
Once signed in, go to the Projects menu and open a specific or individual project. You can also refer to this article to learn more about managing projects in QBO: Set up and create projects in QuickBooks Online.
If you're able to view or access the Overview tab, return to your default browser and clear its cache. This will refresh the system and remove older data that causes viewing and performance issues. However, if this matter continues, I'd recommend using other supported browsers.
In case the display error continues after performing the troubleshooting steps above, I would encourage you to reach out to our Customer Care team. They can create a case to trigger an investigation and guide you with a fix. Here's how:
The same as what I've recommended above, you may check out this article if you wish to know more about Projects and what you can do with them to keep everything in place using QBO: Projects FAQ. It includes topics about budgeting by project and deleting one, to name a few.
Please don't hesitate to keep me posted on how it goes in the comments below. If you have other concerns about managing project transactions in QBO. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @nathalie-empire2.
