Qb won't let me send e-invoice . "Server Connection Error. Something went wrong..."

been online with customer service trying to fix the problem  of Server Connection Error.  Something went wrong. Try again to send an e-invoice.  Alternatively, you can choose to send a regular invoice without the "Pay Now" Link.

He had no luck fixing it.  anybody have this issue and get it fixed?  I'm using descktop pro 2017.  He said he's seen this issue with 2020 version.  thanks.

@joshwharton  Thanks for joining community.

Based off the information you posted, there are a couple of things that can be done to troubleshoot the problem.

Let's start with checking how QuickBooks sends forms.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks file.
  2. Go to the Edit menu and click Preferences.
  3. Click Send forms.
  4. Select WebMail and click Add.
  5. Enter your email address and choose the appropriate provider from the drop-down.
  6. Click OK.
  7. When prompted, sign in to your Intuit account. The username or email address you use here may not necessarily be the same as the one you are connecting to QuickBooks.
  8. Your webmail provider's login page will display. Sign in and choose to grant Intuit access.

After setting up your email, create a new (test) invoice with the option to pay online and send it to yourself.  If you see the Pay Now link, you're good to go.  If you continue to have problems sending the invoice, you may need to configure IE settings for QuickBooks.

Here's an article with steps to Configure IE:  Configure Internet Explorer

Let me know if this helps!

So when I click webmail and add,  The intuit sign in says they cant grant me permission to email.  They can't find any active subscribtion to a qualifying service such as QB connect or intuit data protect.

I do have my email already linked to account as I can see it as my default.

Not sure what to do.

Thanks.

I can also send invoice without the pay now option but not the e-invoice.

@joshwharton Thanks for that information.

Here is an image of what your preferences should be set to:

If you've attempted these steps and you are being blocked from signing into your email account, you will need to contact support.  An agent can look into your QuickBooks to diagnose the problem.

I would also advise to configure IE settings to see if that works before calling support.

This link will take you to the QuickBooks support page, where you can select your service and the proper contact channel: Contact Support

Server Connection Error - Something went wrong. Try again to send an e-Invoice. Alternatively, you can choose to send a regular invoice without the "Pay Now" Link. I had this same issue and after a lot of trial and error, figured out that it was because my client had a prior merchant account that was replaced with a new merchant account. The invoices that were created while the prior merchant account was active and linked to the QB database would yield the Server Connection Error message while the invoices that were subsequently created after the new and current merchant account was linked to the QB database would not yield that error. The solution was to go back and delete and recreate the invoices that were created under the prior account (can duplicate invoices and delete originals). The recreated invoices were able to send out without the error. Sure wish the error would have been a little more helpful in figuring out the true issue we had.
