QBDT Desktop Pro Plus 2024 Register QuickReport does not display assigned classes

I have a problem with QuuickReport for a credit card register. I assign expenses by class. Open the report, hit the button on the upper left to Customize Report, under Columns select (put a check mark next to) Class. Click OK, hit the Refresh button on the upper right just to make sure. The Class column is displayed on the report, but no data is displayed in that column, despite the fact that many transactions have been assigned a class (I'm trying to finish up year-end by editing transactions with missing classes).

Is there some fundamental error I am making here (I've been using QBDT for 16+ years).

Does anyone know what the workaround is for this?

Chat was useless -- was still validating me after 15 minutes.

Ran updates for QBDT.

Thanks for any help.

Steve

QBDT Desktop Pro Plus 2024 Register QuickReport does not display assigned classes

I can see that you did everything you could to fix the issue, @FPCNS, and I appreciate you for that. Allow me to share some insights about running a QuickReport in QuickBooks Desktop.

I've carefully replicated your situation here on my end, and I was able to run a QuickReport showing the Class column seen in the image below.

However, this is done using the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise plan where I edited my preferences to assign classes to Accounts. When I activated this feature, it allowed me to show the class for each credit card expense/charge. Refer to the screenshot below for a visual guide.

Activating this functionality is not retroactive. It'll only affect future transactions and won't apply if you edit transactions from the past to show the correct classes. For example, if you entered a credit card charge last week and forgot to enter a class, then you added this functionality today, the class will still not show in the Credit Card QuickReport.

In your case, the feature is currently unavailable with your QBDT Pro subscription. You may want to consider upgrading or sticking with your current plan.

Moreover, you'll want to read this article to better understand how QuickBooks displays reports that use a concept called Source and Targets: Understand Reports.

Thank you for the actions you've taken, @FPCNS.

Classes and subclasses are additional means to categorize data in QuickBooks Desktop. Allow me to exemplify how to run a report by class on your credit card account in your QuickBooks Desktop file.

Here's how:

  1. Run a Balance Sheet by Class report.
  2. Under the Class, you are running the report for QuickZoom on your Credit Card account by double-clicking the Amount.
  3. If you want to rename the report before printing, select Customize Report, then go to the Header/Footer tab.
  4. In the Report Title field, enter the name you want to use for the report.
  5. Select OK.

If the issue persists, I suggest utilizing the Verify and Rebuild tool. This helps find the most common issues in a company file.

Furthermore, I'm sharing these articles that will help you manage your report:

thank you.

First, I don't see a Balance Sheet by Class report.

Second, the issue is not so much with the balance sheet as with the expenses (yes I know expenses and income build the balance sheet).

Interestingly, when i run the balance sheet, and click on credit card to see the transactions, the report has a class column, but there is no data in the class column, even though I can see the class data when i click on a given transaction line.

The QuickReport for the credit card register does not display the class of the expense.

Therefore, the balance sheet and the QuickReport have exactly the same problem.

Not sure why this would be an issue with a company file; clearly the QBDT report is the problem. I can see the transactions fine, leading me to think the error is on the QB side.

I have already reported this issue to QB three times today (including this message).

I've read the articles you linked below - they do not apply to the issue I am reporting.

Any chance one of your colleagues could read my post and try to re-create the issue in their own version? I have product number (removed).

Else please post an example of a QuickReport showing the Class column appropriately populated, so that I can see that the issue can be addressed.

** Has anyone else out there found the same bug in QBDT? **

QBDT Desktop Pro Plus 2024 Register QuickReport does not display assigned classes

Thank you, I see. I verified that the option is missing in ProPlus 2024. So without the ability to set classes for accounts, the QuickReport and other reports for balance sheet items will not show classes; the profit and loss report (and I am assuming other reports which are not for balance sheet items) will continue to show classes in ProPlus 2024 as they have in earlier versions. I see that this does not apply to any Transaction reports, but weirdly does apply to P/L.

I'm putting in those details so I have them for my records.

Thanks!
