QBO to Google sheets sync

It seems that you're facing an issue with connecting your google sheets to QuickBooks Online (QBO)  through the new spreadsheet syncing function, @Grimayoj. Know that I'm here to educate you more about this feature.

Currently, the feature Spreadsheet Sync is exclusively available in QuickBooks Online Advanced or QuickBooks Online Accountant. If you're using QBO Simple Start, Essential, or Plus. You'll want to consider upgrading your subscription to achieve your goal.

Please note Spreadsheet Sync is compatible with the Office 365 version of Excel and Google Sheets.

For frequently asked questions about Spreadsheet Sync, feel free to check this article: Frequently Asked Questions about Spreadsheet Sync in QuickBooks Online Advanced or Accountant.

Moreover, you'll want to secure a copy of all your financial data out of QuickBooks before canceling them: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

I'm just one post away if you need assistance with any QuickBooks-related concerns. You can click the reply button below to enter your queries. You have a good one.

QBO to Google sheets sync

I'm happy to add more information about syncing reports to Google Sheets from QuickBooks Online (QBO), Grimayoj. Also, I'll provide some alternatives so you can seamlessly manage your data on the said application.

Please know that the syncing feature of reports from QuickBooks works only on Excel, not with Google Sheets. Furthermore, we can only export a report to Google Sheets, but it's exclusive to the classic view of reports. This function is unavailable in the modern experience.

Some reports still have the option to switch from both views. Meanwhile, some don't have this selection anymore.

That said, if the report you're trying to pull up still has the option to Switch to classic view, please select that button. Then, hit the Export dropdown and click Export to Google Sheets.

You may also consider looking for a third-party application that supports syncing and managing data to Google Sheets. Then, integrate it into QuickBooks to handle the report in the software.

Here's how you can connect the app to QBO's system:

  1. Log in to your QBO account and go to the Apps menu.
  2. Enter the application's name on the Search bar or choose the category on the Browse category dropdown.
  3. Follow the onscreen process of linking the app to QuickBooks.

For future reference, I'm adding these articles to guide you once you need to transport data from QuickBooks:

You can always add a reply on this thread if you have more concerns about syncing reports or managing data in QBO. I'll be here to help you at any time.

QBO to Google sheets sync

Hi there, Grimayoj. Let me chime in and provide clarification about managing reports with Google Sheets sync.

The feature of syncing your reports to Google Sheets is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). The system exclusively supports syncing data to Excel. I suggest sending a feature request directly to our Product Developers. They may consider adding it in future product updates. Here's how:

  1. Open your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  3. Enter your suggestions and then click on Next.

You can also consider looking for a third-party app to integrate with QBO and use it instead in syncing reports to Google Sheets. To find an app, visit this link: QuickBooks App Store.

Here are some resources you can refer to when handling reports moving forward:

I'm always around and ready to help if you need further assistance or have questions about managing data or reports in QBO. Leave a comment below to notify me.

QBO to Google sheets sync

You said "Please note Spreadsheet Sync is compatible with the Office 365 version of Excel and Google Sheets."

You are from Quickbooks and that statement appears to be 50% inaccurate.  Why would you tell someone that as method of providing support?

Does Spreadsheet Sync support Google Sheets or not?

I appreciate you for joining this thread, @JohnnykT. Allow me to answer your question.

Yes, Spreadsheet Sync for Google Sheets is available. However, it's only available for QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced. You can read more details by clicking this article: Firm of the future.

You can also contact the Spreadsheet sync and Google Sheets support to learn more about the specifications of their product for a successful integration.

Concerning about the statement Spreadsheet Sync is compatible with the Office 365 version of Excel and Google Sheets, it's based on the system requirements when installing them in QBO Advanced, you can read this article for detailed info: Frequently Asked Questions about Spreadsheet Sync in QuickBooks Online Advanced or Accountant.

QBO to Google sheets sync

I appreciate you for taking the time to share your concerns here in the Community, Grimayoj. Let me clarify things for you.

With the Spreadsheet Sync feature for Google Sheets, you can now securely transfer data between QuickBooks Online Advanced and Google Sheets. This functionality was previously only available with Microsoft Excel, but now it allows you to create pivot charts, graphs, and collaborate seamlessly with clients using Google Sheets.

Here's how to do this:

  1. Go to Reports on the left navigation panel.
  2. Pick a report.
  3. Click the Export icon and select Export to Google Sheets.
  4. Follow the prompts to authorize QuickBooks to access your Google Sheets account.

Once you’ve exported the report, you should see an option to enable automatic synchronization. Make sure to turn on the automatic sync feature so that any changes made in QuickBooks Online are reflected in your connected Google Sheet.

For more information, feel free to check out these helpful resources:

QBO to Google sheets sync

Thanks for the information, which is, yet again, confusing and the opposite of what others at Quickbooks have posted.

THis feature, as you describe it does NOT seem to work at all as described.  Please don't tell me to get QBO Advanced -- I have it and understand that it is required.

When I produce a report, I have the option to Export to Google sheets.

When I tried for the first time, nothing happened.  THe second time, it asked me to authenticate to Google -- which I did.  I gave QBO access to my Google account as required.  Easy stuff -- all kinds of apps need that.

Now that I've done that, the ONLY thing I can do is export a report into Google SHeets... that's it.  I don't get to select the sheet, it isn't connected to anything, I don't get asked to connect it to anything.  It just creates a Google Sheet with my report in it.

There is nothing SYNC about this. It just dumps a Google SHeets version of my report into MY Drive on Google.  If I try exporting the same exact report again, it just creates a new file.

Please please please --- do NOT send me instructions on how to make this work with Excel.  I don't want it to work with Excel, I want it to work with Google SHeets.

1. Log in to your QuickBooks Online company.

2. Click on Help (?) and head to the Search tab.

QBO to Google sheets sync

These instructions below that you are describing do not occur.. There is no automatic sync that occurs in google sheets. That exact step is for excel not google sheets.. Maybe do a print screen on that piece of hte instruction where it states auto sync with GOOGLE SHEETS... And every link that everyone sent basically shows EXPORTING TO GOOGLE SHEETS which is not SYNCING.. And the other links are SYNCING with EXCEL...

I've done this multiple times. Each time I'm told I need to speak with a special department and given an 800. That number rings on some guys phone that has a full mailbox.

QBO to Google sheets sync

It would be great if they have it and it works.. But so far not a single person has pointed me to any instructions that actually are related to a data sync between QBO and GOOGLE SHEETS.  I think people are mixing up

data sync with QBO and EXCEL and also thinking an EXPORT FROM QBO to GOOGLE SHEETS is deemed a sync when in fact its just an export.  Just need someone to send us detailed instructions on this..

So far, the online chat support team is even worse than on here... they don't even know what sync is.  And, when they do, they route me to a "special" department and give me a phone number.  This new phone number goes to Quickbooks Time... which is completely unrelated.
