A warm welcome to the Community, mario-foreignper. Let me help you sort this out.

Unable to calculate taxes on your invoices in QuickBooks are usually the result of outdated or corrupt cache files in your web browser. Not to worry, you can clear them in just a few easy steps.

We can press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the page. If you're still getting the same result, we can do some of the basic troubleshooting steps by accessing your account in a private window. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

Once signed in, create an invoice from there and see if the taxes are automatically calculating. If it rectifies the issue, go back to your main browser and clear its cache to remove the portal's history. You may also try accessing your account using another supported browser.

In the meantime, you can visit the following pointers below. These will provide you details on how to adjust sales tax payments as well as steps on how to track them in QuickBooks Online:

Thank you for your prompt response, unfortunately the issue still remains after trying those solutions. Ive tried google searching as well as contacting customer support and they had me on the phone for an hour simply to tell me that it isnt possible. It was doing it before and now it isnt.

I know that this hasn't been easy for you, mario-foreignper.

By default, QuickBooks should automatically calculate the total tax rate for each sale based on the tax category of your products/services, the location where sell or ship, and your customer's tax-exempt status.

I can see that you've already contacted our technical supports. But I'd still recommend giving them another chance. This way, we'll be able to pull up your account and investigate this issue. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon.
  2. Select Talk to a human.
  3. Enter "Talk to a human" again in the search bar.
  4. Choose I still need a human, then click Contact us.
  5. Select Get a callback or Send a message to start a conversation.
