A tax exempt customer, that is not marked to tax, keeps popping up as taxed on the invoices. Why? How do I fix it?

Good morning, @jessaqsrepairs-o

It's great to see you back in the Community. I'd be more than happy to help you get this resolved to ensure invoices are showing tax exempt for this customer.

When a customer is marked as tax exempt, it doesn't always mean they are exempt from all tax implications. To be eligible, the product/service has to be a product that also corresponds to being tax-exempt in the jurisdiction of the exemption. To fix this, you can go edit the product/service to see if it's set up correctly with an appropriate tax mapping.

Here's how:

  1. At the left navigation pane, select Sales.
  2. Click the Customers.
  3. Choose the customer you want to be tax-exempt.
  4. Press on Customer Details, then Edit.
  5. Tap the Tax info button, then put a checkmark beside This customer is tax-exempt, and pick a Reason for exemption.
  6. Hit the Save button.

A tax exempt customer, that is not marked to tax, keeps popping up as taxed on the invoices. Why? How do I fix it?

Hello, there isn't a place that says "this customer is tax exempt". There's just a place to mark "this customer is taxable". I don't have it marked. I filled in the exemption details. It is still popping up as taxed on the invoices. I'm not sure what else to do.
