Hello there, @smittysauto. I would like to provide you with some useful insights on how to resolve the issue you're facing with QuickBooks.
Even if your customer is set up as tax-exempt, QuickBooks may still automatically mark the invoice or estimate as taxable. In order to avoid this, you will need to manually uncheck the Tax box before saving the transaction. I have attached an image for your reference.
It is important to ensure that your customers are fully tax-exempt. Make sure that the product/service is set up correctly with the appropriate tax mapping to make it eligible for tax exemption. Verify if your customer has a valid address, as a missing or invalid one could cause QBO to use a default tax rate for the company.

Thank you for your response, but that is not the issue. The issue is that even when the items are not "checked," the estimate/invoice print out with a T next to the items that are not checked as taxable. Thankfully, this is NOT affecting the sales tax calculation. It seems like a print glitch. It only happens in the new design for estimates and invoices, not on the sales receipts.

If it works, return to your regular browser and clear your browser's history to start afresh. We also suggest using a different supported browser because the QuickBooks version you're utilizing now may have a temporary malfunction.

I am also having this exact problem and I tried the incognito window to test it and it did not disappear. Anything else to suggest? Nothing is set up to be taxable and nothing is reports in my tax reports, but the T remains.
I have another fix for you to remove the T besides the amounts on invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @kbeach1999.
Regardless of whether the item is set as taxable or non-taxable, we'll need to ensure that the Tax column on the invoice is unchecked. This way, we can print the transaction without any indication of it being taxable.
After that, let's save the invoice and take a look at the changes by tapping the Print and download option.
If the issue persists, let's clear your computer's cache to give it a fresh start and fix common browser-related performance issues. Opting for another supported browser is also a good choice to see if the following changes display the same results.
Furthermore, learn to record invoice payments once your customer decides to pay. It’s a good practice to record them immediately to maintain accurate records.

That box is not checked. These are services that have never been taxable and all of a sudden they are now showing as taxed on invoices...while not actually calcualting any tax. I tested rebuilding one of these servies to test if something was changed in the back end (which clearly it has) and I had the same reult. The T is still showing next to that line item for that new test service. Thoughts?

"Identified similar cases...". The issue with the "T" showing up even with non taxable items and with tax exempt clients is causing issues with invoice and estimate creation with ALL QBO users. It is ridiculous that QB knows there is an issue with the new invoice/estimate forms, yet FORCES users into the new forms even with these known issues. In addition, this issue has been reported to QBO for MONTHS (since before January 2024) and nothing has been corrected.
To tell someone who is reaching out for help to contact your support team and have them spend their time trying to find a fix for an issue that QBO knows about and has not corrected up to this point is ludicrous and a waste of time.
Issue has been ongoing since Sept-Oct 2023. We had to take a different direction because the issues had not been resolved by end of 2023.
